There shouldn't have been any tweaking for ivtv. If you can capture using the test capture then it will work inside MythTV. You have to setup mythtvsetup correctly though. You also shouldn't have needed to install any Nvidia drivers as they are included in the distro and I know they work. So if the frontend and backend are working then it sounds like a setup or an incorrectly built Nvidia driver problem to me. And why in the world would you be using xmms as the video player?
